Trans-Atlantic Association

Trans- Atlantic Association is a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving heritage, advancing education, and celebrating cultural diversity through storytelling. We support research, pedagogical training, and emerging scholars focused on oral traditions and documentation, in partnership with universities and colleges.
Our work is international, with a special emphasis on strengthening cultural and educational exchange between Morocco and the United States. Through educational programs, cultural initiatives, and research, we empower young people to build confidence, creativity, and self-expression while honoring shared histories and cultural differences.
By fostering imagination, compassion, and collaboration, we ensure that the art of storytelling continues to inspire, connect, and transform future generations.

Educational Programs
We offer engaging storytelling workshops that nurture creativity, imagination, and cultural appreciation in children and students. In partnership with universities, we support young researchers in oral heritage and documentation while equipping educators with tools to integrate storytelling into their classrooms. These programs build confidence, independence, and cultural awareness.

Cultural Exchange Initiatives
Our cultural exchange initiatives strengthen understanding between Morocco and the United States through student exchanges, cultural festivals, and collaborative research. By connecting communities through shared traditions and stories, we promote cross-cultural dialogue and lasting relationships.

Research & Development
We advance the study and preservation of oral heritage through academic partnerships, mentorship for emerging scholars, and the creation of educational resources. Our research-driven approach ensures storytelling remains a vibrant and evolving cultural and educational practice.
Our Story
My name is Dr. Kathy Carver
Growing up in Morocco and later living in France and the United Kingdom, I was immersed in a rich mosaic of cultures, languages, and stories. This multicultural journey shaped my deep appreciation for storytelling as a powerful tool for connection—one that bridges cultural differences and fosters understanding across borders.

Working closely with people from diverse backgrounds taught me the importance of respect, empathy, and inclusion. These values inspired me to create spaces where individuals feel supported, heard, and empowered. This passion ultimately led to the founding of Trans-Atlantic Storytelling, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving cultural heritage and celebrating intangible cultural diversity through storytelling.

As both a storyteller and a biology professor, I bring a unique interdisciplinary perspective to this work. I believe that storytelling has the power to spiritually unite people and ease the tensions created by cultural and social differences. As a universal language, storytelling transcends boundaries and allows us to cultivate empathy, compassion, and collaboration. Through our programs, we seek to inspire positive change in individuals and communities in both the United States and Morocco.

Our mission extends beyond preserving and advancing intangible cultural heritage; it is about creating a platform for social harmony and mutual understanding among nations. I envision Trans-Atlantic Storytelling as a connective force—one that strengthens dialogue, fosters cultural diplomacy, and encourages cooperation across cultures. By sharing stories and traditions, we can help pave the way toward a more peaceful and connected world.
This vision is what motivated me to establish Trans-Atlantic Storytelling, and I remain deeply committed to its potential to create lasting, meaningful impact on a global scale.
